Ofsted School Inspection

PLEASE NOTE THAT  WHILE LEGAL DUTIES STILL APPLY GOVERNMENT POLICY AND GUIDANCE PRE-MAY 2010 IS SUBJECT TO REVIEW

On 12th June 2009, Ofsted released a revised inspection framework for use from September 2009.  The revised framework includes a number of priority areas. The areas of particular relevance to anti-bullying work include:

  • evaluating the achievement and wider well-being of pupils as a whole and of different groups of pupils, and assessing the extent to which schools ensure that all pupils, including those most at risk, succeed
  • assessing how well schools promote equality of opportunity, and how effectively they tackle discrimination
  • checking schools' procedures for safeguarding, keeping children and young people safe from harm
  • gathering, analysing and taking into account the views of parents and pupils
  • assessing how effectively the schools work in partnership with other providers in order to promote better outcomes for pupils
