Creating a School Action Plan
Resources
If you have a case study or resources for this section that
you would like to share with other local authorities please visit
the case studies page of the toolkit.
Local authorities have a key role in promoting good practice,
and embedding anti-bullying work in schools (including private
schools), academies and the wider community.
Each local authority should have an Action Plan
that details anti-bullying work in schools. The School Action Plan
should include:
- Approach to supporting schools in this work
- An understanding of law relating to
schools
- Knowledge of other services that can support
anti-bullying work in schools
- Practical strategies that schools can use to prevent and
respond to bullying
- How schools can measure improvement in their
anti-bullying work
- How anti-bullying work relates to school responsibilities with
regard to equality and human rights
The action plan should include an outline of how anti-bullying
work will be embedded in schools.
This can include:
- The production of anti-bullying guidance and resources –
developing an anti-bullying culture; curriculum guidance;
prevention strategies; responding to bullying incidents
- Staff training
- Anti-Bullying Conferences and Events including the promotion of
Anti-Bullying Week
- Model Anti-Bullying Policies to be
used by schools and other settings
- Anti-Bullying Initiatives and Anti-Bullying Programmes
- Local Anti-Bullying Accreditation Schemes
- Local Anti-Bullying Website
- Local Anti-Bullying Newsletter
