Law, policy and guidance

PLEASE NOTE THAT  WHILE LEGAL DUTIES STILL APPLY GOVERNMENT POLICY AND GUIDANCE PRE-MAY 2010 IS SUBJECT TO REVIEW

In recent years there has been substantial legislation, policy and guidance issued by government relating to bullying.

Most of this legislation relates to local authorities, statutory agencies, schools and further education colleges, but all organisations and adults working with children and young people must recognise that they owe them, both morally and legally under common law a ‘duty of care’, and must take all steps to ensure their safety.

This section of the toolkit highlights key legislation and guidance as it relates to anti-bullying practice.
